Natural resources are resources that we have because mother nature has provided them for us.  Once we use them, they're gone forever.  This section has thousands of charities with a sole purpose of protecting our environment.   This is where you can help protect our water resources, wetlands and forests.  If you would like to protect your local lakes and rivers or protect the wildlife animals in your particular area, then there are almost 5,000 organizations that will help you do so.
Sometimes we think of botanical gardens as just "pretty."  Botanical gardens, arboretums and horticulture facilities are not only established for us to visually enjoy but these are also used for educational purposes and for scientific uses.  Most of the vitamins and medicines that are used today are derived from one or many plants, vegetables, and fruits.  They are the basis from which scientists create vaccines and cures for deadly diseases.  You can donate to a general garden club or you can specifically pick a flower that you want to preserve.

Everyone knows that pollution in the smallest form like a cigarette butt or from large mills is destroying our environment and the air.  Of course any little thing we can do on a daily basis to help is great, but there are many organizations out there that are trying to clean up streams, rivers, lakes, oceans, and large parts of land that are in danger from all the pollution.  You can help save our planet by contributing to one of these causes or to a recycling facility in your area.
Popular Charities

These support organizations are groups that volunteer their time, managerial services, financial guidance, and  technical assistance to the charities.  Included here are research facilities and professional societies for anything dealing with the energy, land and water conservation, recycling and the environment as a whole.

Environmental Beautification is just like it sounds...keeping the environment beautiful.  In every city, county or state there is a group established to keep everything looking clean and well maintained.  In addition to cleanliness these groups plant trees and flowers to help areas look better after mother nature or commercialism has left it looking less than desirable.   It takes a lot of people, determination and "elbow grease" to keep our country clean so if you can find a way to contribute to your local or national organization, we will all help keep America beautiful!

Environmental Education refers to centers, institutes, and classes that teach us about wildlife, habitats, and the environment.  These educational tours and classes can be modified to teach preschool age children up to adults.  The focus is on how to protect and preserve our environment and the plants, animals, and insects that call it "home."  There are many of these organizations to choose from, so whichever one you decide, know that you can't make a wrong decision.
