International Development is a sub-category that
funds other countries in their agricultural development, which not only
provides supplies but teaches them how to farm. There is also
international economic development which helps them to build schools,
churches, homes, etc... to make their overall way of living a little
better. Lastly, there are almost 3000 organizations that support
international relief which could aide in medical help, natural
disasters, or assistance after natural disasters or war.
These support organizations are comprised of groups
aiding in management and technical assistance, alliance and advocacy,
and public policy analysis. There are also professional societies
and associations, research institutes, monetary and non-monetary
support. There is so much that is needed for other third world
countries that is takes a lot of support monetarily and by donating time
and services.
International Understanding of other cultures as well
as their understanding of ours is beneficial on all ends. There
are programs devised for student exchange programs and programs
that allow teachers from other countries to come teach in the U.S. and
vice versa. There are organizations that support groups of people
going to other countries to live and work in order to come back and
educate others on their way of life or a new innovative way to do
something. In order for the world to live in harmony there must be
an understanding and appreciation of other's cultures.
International Peace and Security is our nation's
ultimate goal. This goal can not be met without the help of many
organizations coming together to make this possible. This
sub-category is largely made up of Arms Control and Peace organizations,
United Nations associations, and many national security organizations.
We don't realize exactly what it takes and what is costs to keep the
United States safe. This is certainly an area where donations
would be extremely valuable for the entire country.
We like to think that we are a self-sufficient
country, but in fact, we rely heavily on other countries for fruit,
cars, and manufacturing of thousands of goods. In order to be able
to do all of this and for other countries to acquire items from us,
there has to be negotiations and policies so everyone understands the
conditions. There are leaders who oversee our International
Affairs and Foreign Policy but it takes many more people to actually
make it all work. In this grouping, you would be donating to all
of smaller people who get the job done.
There are many organizations that fight to protect
our human rights as well as people in other countries. In this
sub-category are numerous organizations that support and aide in
international migration as well as house and protect refugees. We
often forget just how good we have it and how fortunate we are to live
in a country with a democracy. These groups are trying to help
those who seek what we already have.
