Add Charities
Don't see your favorite cause on
our list? No problem ! You can add any registered
charity by filling out the easy charity submission
form.
Yes, you can choose this option in your My Charities section. When you sign up through our site you may choose a charity or you select a charity fund. There are several charity funds available. Many of the funds DonationNetwork.org manages, and many are managed by other members. You can select any fund to send your donation to. It's all up to you and you can change your mind at any time.
Can I mail a check to DonationNetwork every month instead of charging my credit card?
If you are not involved in the Donation Matching Program, or trying to make a recurring donation, then you may mail a check directly to us to be donated to the charity of your choice. However, if you would like to be involved in the Program or are attempting to set up a recurring donation, then we must have your credit card, debit card, or your banking account information to withdraw the payment each month.
Can I put 'in memory of' or 'in honor of'' and attach it to my donations?
Yes, when DonationNetwork mails out quarterly checks to charities, there will be a letter attached containing the names of all those who chose to put an "in honor of" or "in memory of" name. To do this simply fill out the 'in memory of' or 'in honor of' fields when making your online donation.
Yes, you can put as many entries into the Donation Matching Program as desired. Once your first entry reaches stage 1-Supporter it is probably a good idea to create another entry in the program. Each entry has the possibility of doubling the matching funds that are available.
Can my donation be divided between multiple charities?
Yes, donating to more than one charity is done through charity funds. Charity Funds are an exclusive Donation Network feature. Setting up a charity fund allows you to split your donations from 2 to 100 different charities.
Can someone sign up to be on my team without having my team number?
In order for someone to be on your team, they must have your team number. If they do not have it then they will need to wait to sign up. This is very important as you can not switch teams after you have signed up. Please double check this information when signing up.
Do I have to be a team leader to donate through DonationNetwork?
No, Team Leaders are used only in the Donation Matching Program. You do not need to be in the Donation Matching Program to use our site to donate. We accept both one time and recurring donations though the site without being part of the program.
If you want to donate through the program you still do not have to be a team leader. To avoid being a team leader simply do not sign up anyone under your team number.
No, only if you are in the donation Matching Program. If you are in the donation matching program the answer is yes. You may make as many $50 donations as you would like each month but every donation is $50.
Not all charities are registered with the federal government. (a good example would be most churches) Therefore our online listing might not include the cause you are interested in donating to.
Adding a charity not only allows you to donate, but also allows the thousands of other DonationNetwork members to donate as well. We encourage you to add any charity not currently listed, plus adding a charity to our site is easy. 1) Go to the area where the charity would be listed. I.E. for a Christian church you would go to religion/Christianity.
2) Click the 'add a charity' link located on the left of the page.
3) Follow the online instructions for adding a charity and you're done.
It's that easy!
To join the Donation Matching Program, you may either join the program immediately when you sign-up to use the website, or you may find a charity that you would like to donate to and click the 'DONATE NOW' button. You will be given the option of joining the Donation Matching Program anytime you select to donate to a charity.
You can get information on the program at The Donation Matching Program You can go directly to the sign up page at The Sign Up Page
How do I update my credit card or bank information?
There is no perfect way to measure how 'good' a charity is. Our star rating system is based on a charity's financial page and the information we have. However, many more factors help determine the solidarity and value of a charity. For more information than we provide about a charity, you can click on the charity name and it will take you to that individual website, if they have one.
There are two ways that this can work. You can choose to have your Matching Funds to be deposited into your bank account and then you can personally donate that to your church. The other way is to enter your church on DonationNetwork.org by obtaining the churches EIN number and making the church your designated charity. Your donations and matching funds will be sent to your church on a monthly basis. There is, however, a 30 day delay from when you sign up to the actual donation being sent. This delay is done for legal purposes, so that you can receive your statements and dispute any errors in charges.
How many blocks of donations do I need to personally secure?
The only requirement of the program is that you secure two additional blocks of donations. This low level requirement is a big selling point of the program. The two blocks makes you eligible for all three stages of the matching program.
The Donation Matching Program is not based on the number of team members but on the number of blocks of donations you secure. So in reality the number of people required to reach all stages is two. However, if every block of donation was a different person it would be as follows:
Stage 1 -Supporter 7 additional, matching funds amount 100% or $50.00 per month.
Stage 2 -Contributor 32 additional, matching funds amount $250.00 per month.
Stage 3 -Patron 100 additional, matching funds amount $1000.00 per month.
DonationNetwork sends a check to charities quarterly provided that the charity has accumulated at least $100 in donations. These donations do not have to come just from you. They are totaled from everyone participating in the Donation Matching Program.
How often does DonationNetwork send a check to individual charities?
DonationNetwork sends a check to charities quarterly provided that the charity has accumulated at least $100 in donations. These donations do not have to come just from you. They are totaled from everyone participating in the Donation Matching Program.
If I choose to split my $50 donation between two charities, does that count as my $50 for the month or only $25?
Each donation has to be $50.00 in the Donation Matching Program. You can specify different amounts to different charities through the use of charity funds, but it still counts as your full $50 monthly donation.
If I have a question about DonationNetwork or the Donation Matching Program can I call and speak directly to someone?
We have tried to provide you with detailed information through our website and our brochure but if you still have a question we have two methods of answering them. One, we have an extensive messaging system which you can use to ask questions or to provide us with comments or feedback. Two, we have an online forum in which you can post your question and DonationNetwork staff or others will provide you with answers. We have opted not to staff phone and email support at this time to keep our operating overhead as low as possible which allows us to provide the maximum donations to charities.
If I tell a friend about DonationNetwork and they choose to donate just once, can I use them as part of my team?
We are excited to receive their donation, however, it will not count toward the stages in the Donation Matching Program. In order for someone to sign up as a member under your team they are required to agree to the terms of the Donation Matching Program. One of the terms is that members of the program agree to donate $50.00 per month while in the program.
Is it better to donate a little to several charities or a bigger amount to a select few?
Either way is great as long as you're donating to a charitable cause. There is really no difference either way. All charities are thankful for whatever amount of funds you provide.
Is the donation to the charity made in my name, the team name, or in DonationNetwork's name?
When a check is given to a charity, DonationNetwork's name will be on the check but you may choose to have someone's name listed under "In memory of" or "In Honor Of." You may also choose to be an anonymous donor. This choice is made on your initial donation information but may be changed at anytime through your account status page.
Once I choose a charity am I required to donate to that charity for any particular length of time?
If you are on a recurring program, the donations to the charity will not be changed until your next cycle. Otherwise if you are donating semi-annually and you want to change charities the day after your semi-annual date, you can do so but it would be your next donation before the funds go to your new charity. Cycles can be monthly (requirement for the donation matching program), quarterly, semi-annual or annual. The choice is yours. You can opt to change charities or even change the percentage that is allotted to that charity. These changes can be made in your 'My Account' section.
What if the charity I would like to donate to is not listed on this site?
There are literally millions of charities and unfortunately not all are listed with the government. If there is a charity you would like to donate to, but is not listed on our site, then you have two options. First, for those in the Donation Matching Program you may choose to have your matching fundsdirectly deposited into your account. This way you can donate to a local cause not listed. Second, you can add the charity to our site. For instructions see 'How can I add a Charity Not listed?'.
Typical uses for a Charity Fund:
* To group charities that have a common mission.
* To group charities that are in my local area.
* To group charities so that I can share this group with others.
* To group charities so I can make one donation that goes to several charities.
Once created, a Charity Fund is just like any other charity:
* You can define the title, mission, and description of it.
* You can donate to it.
* You can review it.
* You can add it to your favorites.
* You can even add it to another Charity Fund
Each entry into the donation matching program has the ability to receive up to $1000.00 per month in matching funds. Thus, the more times you have entered into the program the more matching funds you have that ability to receive. It is important to note that each entry has the same requirements of all other entries.
The Matching Program provides incentives to those involved for securing donations on behalf of DonationNetwork. Through the matching funds the program provides, you can receive up to $12,000.00 per year for charities. This can be accomplished with only a $50.00 per month donation. For complete details, please refer to the online program guide -The Donation Matching Program Guide
Yes, all financial and personal information is secure. This information is passed with the most secure up-to-date 128 bit encryption. Additionally, all information is kept on secure servers NOT continually linked with a internet connection.
You will receive several messages the month before your credit card is to expire. You will need to pull up your account status and provide us with the correct information. This is very important to do as an invalid account gets removed from the program after 60 days.
What type of credit cards do you accept for payment?
We accept VISA, MASTERCARD, AMERICAN EXPRESS, and DISCOVER. We also accept Debit Cards as long as they have a major Credit Card logo and can do automatic withdrawal from your bank account.
For recurring donations your credit card will be charged every month on or around the same day as your original day of donation. For example, if you made your first donation on January 14th then your card would be charged every month around the 14th.
For tax purposes, how do I show that I donated funds to organizations not listed on your site?
DonationNetwork can only provide tax information for donations made through us. Any donations made to organizations not listed on our site, even if you used your matching funds to donate to them, are not reflected on your tax form provided by DonationNetwork. If you donate to an outside cause, you need to make sure they can provide you with tax documentation.
Will I need an accountant to figure out my taxes if I choose to donate through DonationNetwork?
No, if you already use an accountant than you can provide him with this information and it should be very simple. However, if you do not use an accountant this is not a reason to start. If you donate at least $600 a year through DonationNetwork, then you will be provided with a 1099 tax form that you can enter in manually on your tax return paperwork or if you use a program like Turbo Tax it will tell you when to enter in your 'donations.'
The only documentation you will need is if you reach Stage Two of our program and you are having those funds directly deposited into your account. If this is the case, you will receive a 1099 form for your taxes. DonationNetwork can only provide tax information for the donations made through us. For standard donations you will be provided with the total you have donated. This amount is entered into your year in taxes, but no documentation is needed. You are able to print a receipt at any time for donations made to DonationNetwork.org.
Will the tax documents show what I personally donated or will I get credit for what DonationNetwork matched also?
You only get to deduct from your taxes the amount you have personally donated. You will receive detailed information on the matching funds you have received, but these are not tax-deductible on your personal taxes.
Is my e-mail address shared with anyone or given to charities?
In order to be a team member under a designated team, you will need the team number. If this was not filled in on your brochure then you will need to contact the person who gave it to you. If you sign up without the team member number then you will be assigned your own name and number and have therefore created the beginning of your own team entirely separate from the person who gave you the information. By doing that you will be hurting his/her team so it is imperative that you obtain the name and number before signing up to donate if you wish to be involved in the Donation Matching Program.
Our Donation Matching Program is NOT a pyramid. The Donation Matching Program is a multilevel marketing approach to donating. For more detailed information on the difference check out the online guide.
